Got both of these for 50p. Cleaned them off to she what was underneath. They look like pretty common stones. Anyone got any idea what they are?

When flattening them they had a creamish swarth. They seem to be fairly fine

It's just a guess, left could be carborundum/silicon carbide, right aluminium oxide/India/corundum.

Well worth 50p in any case!

The one on the left definitely looks like a natural stone, one on the right also possibly a natural stone.

Look like natural bedding lines on the one on the left so surely that's a natural. The one on the right also looks natural. I can't be sure, but it looks to have cloud-like patterns similar to a hone I have (no clue what mine is, sorry) and it is a very fine one.

Post photos of the edges, they can tell you a lot.

Can you show pictures from side as well as pictures of any damage.
So far my bet is Dalmore Blue on the left and possibly Hindostan right.

Not sure on the left. I also say hindostan on the right. A look at the side of the stone (without swarf covering it up, of course) will solve the second one, easily.
