I purchased a 6" engineers square at Yandles last week, nice and shiny but wanting to leave it accessable and exposed near bench.

I have rubbed the tool with candle wax hoping this will keep rust at bay.

What do you think?

Ordinary paste wax (Beeswax etc) will do a better job and alot more user friendly than candle wax. Of course there's plently of branded stuff out there that you can use as well.

I've been conducting some tests this winter, because (as some here will remember  ) I hate rust, and get quite a lot in my garage/workshop.

Although not a great fan of 'branded' products when they're just marked up chemicals, I have to say that the liberon lubricating wax seems to make a significant difference in the preventing of rust...Dunno exactly what's in it, but it seems to do a good job for me...
