Can you recommend a disc+belt sander for under £150 ish?

Generally, a disc is used for rounding corners / edges or for squaring edges. A belt is more for surface sanding larger pieces.

It's usually a case of using whichever fits best for the desired result. The reason why many recommend a bigger disc sander is that they're only really useful at 12 inches, and the disc part of a combination machine is usually only 6 inches

I've just had a thought.
What I hadn't considered before was on the belt / disc sanders the belt can often be swung up to vertical. The disc table can then be attached to the sander in front of the belt thereby giving a much greater usable area for all the things that a disc is used for.

Has anyone used their belt like this? does it work as well as the disc for the usual applications you would use a disc sander for?

EDIT A 6" disc is small because generally for safety you only use the top left quarter of the disc where the rotation of the disc is pushing the work piece into the table. The inner part of the disc is also less useful because of the slower speed it runs. Using the belt vertically as above may solve these problems.

I find I tend to use the belt part far more than the disc part on mine. I have used it vertically on occasion.
