Hi, a good while ago I bought a Union Graduate Wood Lathe, & today I decided to have a look through the accessories that came with it.

Can any member identify what this is then, it was in the box that came with the lathe, & has the same colour paint.

I've a smaller drill grinding jig, elcheapo model, & thought this tool was along them lines.

This is big, top section must be 2ft long, & it's over a foot high. I think my main question now I know what it is, is it a accessory for the Union Graduate I have.?

Thanks for the replies BTW,

SS.

Wouldn't of thought so, as the purpose of the tool is to present the drill at a set angle to the grinder and allow it then resurface the cutting edge. I have sharpened 1 3/4" drills by hand but its so much easier in a proper tool like that one. I suspect it has parted company from a designated drill sharper grinder as illustrated

One of the rules taught on using a bench grinder is never use the side of a grinding wheel that is running at high speed as it weakens it and it may shatter.
