I have spent a few hours browsing various scrollsaw site and demonstrations. I came across one demonstration that was showing the making of the above.
It mentioned tilting the table 3 to 5 degrees to the right, that seems fine but the Hefner table only tilts a little to the right, with main tilt function to the left.
Please don't think that as a beginner I'm going to tackle one of these, but it got me thinking about the tilt function.
Am I missing something here?

You're in for some fun now you've started thinking about tilting the table :) . You don't only need to consider the direction in which you tilt a table, you also need to consider the direction of your cut - clockwise or widdershins. If you tilt the table down to the left and cut clockwise, the centre will drop down. However, if you keep the table tilted down to the left and then cut widdershins, the centre will rise up.

At least, I think that's right :? #-o :D !

hi Waka
you will tend to find depending on which way you tilt the table will make the cut piece slide back into the hole or pull forward away from it as you are cutting a bevel..

Thanks for the info, think I'll do some test runs to get the feel of the tilt .

just for fun get 2 thin pieces of chipboard/Mdf or whatever and paint one a different colour, put them both together on top of each other and cut something through both pieces, now when your top piece comes out the bottom piece(different colour) should slot into the hole made by the top piece, if you have the angle correct..
