Got some timber out of the workshop today and brought indoors to climatise ready for the start of the new woodwork season coming upon us.

A board of American Ash

Then decided to add a length of sycamore plus a couple of reclaimed boards of sweet chesnut.

The wife never made a murmur.

Left the American Oak in the workshop if its going to play up on iron fittings, I dont know whats inside the dvd recorder, there might be iron ferrite rods.

Oh, and there is some iroko laying behind the chair(been there two years) cant remember what project that was put there for. It will come back to me someday I suppose.

Also there is a 6ft length of Black Walnut on the floor under the bed , been there over 3 years. similar problem.

DW, I don't think you need to worry about any little bit of iron inside the DVD player affecting the white oak. The iron needs to be in contact with the oak and you need some moisture present for it to have any impact.

DaveR I dont think I could risk bringing in another length of timber at the moment, my wife is quite good at counting.
