Hi i have an Elektra Beckum Hc 260 planer thicknesser and the motor has burned out ;-( does anyone know if it is cheaper to get it repaired or just bite the bullet and buy a new one,i take it i will have to deal with metabo as they have now taken over Electra Beckum.
Thanks Jim

Looks like i will have to go down that route , have contacted Metabo and i feel i have been royally shafted the price for a new motor is £429.00 delivered i have tried going through 3rd parties to obtain this motor but they all come out at the same price so it looks like i will have to buy a motor and modify my planer to take it,what really really annoys me is i can buy the latest version of this machine for £499.00,found this with my first search but no doubt i could find it even cheaper.
Jim....... tnx for the info anyways

I just recently bought a new motor for my planer, its a 3phase 2.2kw foot mounted motor, cost £161,88 inclusive of VAT.
Its rated for continuous usage too.

Well i wish to praise kevin Rowles of Metabo I had a phone call from him after i sent him an email and he has informed me that he will supply a replacment motor for my planer thicknesser for £212.00 delivered ,lot of money i know, but to come good on an item like that i think i have done very well ,well done metabo for great customer service.

One happy camper now ;-) ;-)
