I wonder who buys those pitted planes. If I had the urge to try to build one, I might be tempted to buy a burnt out looking plane like that so that I could rob the proportions off of it, but stuff that's pitted on ebay tends to look even worse once you get it in person.
Every time you guys bring up a miter plane, ebay suggests a cast miter plane to me for 150 quid, difference being it looks in better shape. That kind of thing would sell pretty easily at that over here, but it must be one of the things you're rich in that we're poor in.
