Well Bashers as you all knew this years Bash was getting a mention in Woodturning Magazine :D
I mailed Mark Baker about it and he was happy to do a little write up about it and here it is in this months edition.
Just a shame i feel that the group piccy wasn't in the mag,not that i have any complaints about George showing his demoing skills :D

Hi Paul

I saw it, a great write up. I couldn't help ringing George to tell him his ugly mug was in the mag.

I reckon you could develop the Brummie Bash into a major woodworking event,

If you have one next year could you please invite me again and let me know roughly when it would be as I will make sure I make it this time. If you still would be inclined to want a southern softy there.

Take care and well done

Mark

Now theres an offer i can't refuse to have another Bash next year :D
Might as well make it an hat trick of bashes :D
Yes Mark you would be more than welcome to come along,as a very talented southern softy   and thank you for your comments.
I hope George didn't mind the publicity. :D
Chas (CHJ) is in the backgoround fettling with summat, for those who might wonder. :D

Hi Paul,

it was good to see the article. Shame it couldn't have been turned into a whole page with more photos. This is especially a shame when there is a whole page review on a Record bench grinder which is years old.

Looking forward to next years event already. Must try and get my new hollowing tools ready in time for it.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks Dave.
A whole page would have been good but i guess the space in the mag is very limited with all that does get put in,so perhaps next year

This is the other piccy i sent in showing most who came along.

not got my copy yet, which pic was used?

It was a great day, look forward to next year.

Did you notice they said the meeting was arranged through a forum

But NO mention of UK Workshop forum ? :?

or was it on the woodturning mags forum as well

it was nice to see it there but i felt a much larger article could have been done about-and also note the lack of ukw refference- maybe they were not allowed to mention another forum seeing as they have their own gmc one?

hey, if we're doing advanced reservations can I put my name down :) Good to see you getting some external recognition for it and agree that it's a shame this forum didn't get a name check.

As i say I haven't read it yet. But it's obvious they wouldn't promote the high community spirit of a 'rival' forum when they have their own (quite mediocre) forum that they've probably spent thousands on having built (twice). The cynic in me might suggest that this was even a bit sneeky of them to make it 'seem' like a GMC forum event.

That was the reason given George.I did try but.............
But my reason for doing it was to hilite how forums can get people together and are willing to travel some distances.
Miles. The advanced copies are for people who subscribe.
Usualy get a copy a few days before they hit the shelves, which in this case is Dec 10th. :D
Mine was waiting for me when we got back yesterday :D

Please count me in, if I know early in advance I'll make sure no invitations to weddings etc will clash.

Regards,

Mike C

Hi Paul,

Hopefully I will be able to make it next year as well. Sounds like fun!!

As you say it does read like its a GMC Forum bash but we know better don't we :-$ :-$

Cheers,

Richard
