hey
I was just look at a no.7 brook plane. the name rings a bell but i'm not really sure of the quality?

can anyone give me some pointers or reviews

Welcome to the forum...never heard of a 'brook' plane. Block planes, however is a different kettle of worms, is that what you mean? - Rob

Welcome to the forum. :D

I think I have seen Brook planes in Tilgear, I have never tried one, not even held one. They were quiet cheap compared to LN or Veritas but the finish did not look as good. I am not sure were they are made, they could with a little fettling be a usable tool but on the other hand if the QA is not good you could end up with a door stop.
 
Olie, its a cheap knock-off of an old design with a few alterations to save manufacturing costs.
Ask yourself why its been photographed in the plastic bag. It looks like pound-shop quality to me.
If money is the issue (when isn't it?) either save or spend it on older Record or Stanley stuff.
