Broken socket on SIP planer thicknesser.

I've trodden on the cable from my SIP p/t once too often and the carrier for the male socket on the machine has broken. The machine is still usable but I need to replace the socket and I'm struggling to find the right component. Most sockets are female and wired into the live side of the connection. In this case the connecting lead is the live side and so I can't just replace it with a standard socket because that would require the operator to insert a live 2 pin plug - a lethal combination.

Any suggestions please?

I would contact SIP using the spares help on their website - http://www.sipuk.co.uk/tools/spares.html - I have always found them very helpful.

Replace it with a blue "commando" power inlet & blue "commando" socket perhaps?

Thanks guys. The Commando angled socket solution looks like the business. Ordered online - and I already have a caravan battery charging adaptor that'll fit.

Initially looked attractive, but after adding VAT and carriage it was £10.02 - so just £1.12 cheaper. Book marked for future reference though. Thanks.

Ahh now see I don't pay the vat & there is one a couple of miles from home, they have branches all over the UK.

I had this problem, with my old sip planer / thicknesser. I was trying to sell it of cheap at the time so didn't want to spend any money on it so I just hard wired it in and did away with the plug and socket on the machine. I Don't see why this couldn't be a permanent fix if you fitted a cable gland to grip the cable and stop it getting yanked out.
