Bringing RAS up to scratch

A couple of weeks ago i posted a thread in marketplace under wanted dewalt spare parts and i had the good fortune to meet two members who have helped me to achieve the completion of task in less than a couple of weeks showing the power of forums , Firstly i got a reply from Sandyn with a goodly amount of photos of the guard set up on his Dewalt RAS that were truly helpfull and i was ready to embark on making the anti kickback device my self as it is no longer marketed I had started making the pawls and bracket when i was contacted by Dodge who thought he might have one hidden away in a drawer in his workshop it turned out he did and within 3 days i had it in my hands , this freed me from making my own and today with the help of these two fantastic members i have completed the rebuild and making safe my RAS i have attached photos of the project . These are the parts i had to start with ( Previous post) I then managed to buy a limited amount of spares from Miles plus the full anti kick back devise from Dodge

Using the photos i had received from Sandyn i worked out what spares i would have to make

Once made and assembled

And now jobs a good en

And it works

I had to make a longer bracket for the the cam /anti kickback

The one that came from Dodge was off a smaller RAS mine is a 300mm blade type DW8001 i also made the dust port on the top of the guard from a plastic drain coupling by heating it with a hot air gun and forming it over the spigot on top of the main guard

Go for it didnt cost as much as original spare part

And you can fit vac tube strait in to it or leave nut and seal on elbow to make a tight fit on vac pipe

I have the original rubber adapter, non-use whatsoever for attaching to an extractor hose, more for directing the dust away from your face...

Yes think that was the idea before HSE guidelines on dust this method i have used is not foolproof but it takes the fine dust away i also have an Electra Becum dust extractor so might codge up a housing behind the saw blade but it wont follow the blade forward so minimal amount of particles will be caught
