Things may get rougher for them over the years as people buying those tools in the US are getting thinner and they were really buying into John E.'s self promotion.

Even at half price, most of the tools are well above the cost of anything else available and, for example, the rules are on par with the cost of an actual starrett.

There were some ardent collectors here, though, who bought every tool that was introduced. I recall hearing about a guy in ohio who bought two of everything, really didn't use any of them much, but left one copy of each completely unopened.

When he died, his wife couldn't find a buyer for the stuff and ended up selling the whole collection for pennies on the dollar to a tool dealer.
