Brace and bit

Hay. Might be a stupid question, but will these hexshank bits fit in an old brace. I need to drill some 25mm holes in a stool I'm making. i got a bit of Amazon, it felt blunt out of the box , I had a go on a 2x4 with my DeWalt, it either split wood down middle. Flew through and smashed back out or got stuck. So I sent it back and was going to order these. But thought I'd use a brace and go a bit slower. Just don't know if they'll fit.

Yes. I have that same set of bits and they do fit in my old brace. Quicker in a power drill though...

Yes memories, boring holes for cables through joist and timbers using one of these but half a turn at a time on the ratchet.

I had a load of brand new clico augers I'd acquired. They were a hard sell taking years to get rid. I was half retail. They were good but rough compared with vintage brands tbh.

Old braces have only two, so they'll work on a hex. shank.

The issue is learning to sharpen them. Can you get auger files?

you can get away with using a triangular saw file to sharpen drill bits if you've not got an auger file, I've managed alright with one.

That's a 32mm bit in a twin jaw brace (both a bit rusty) woods a bit suspect, bit of scrap redwood.
