I was going to post this in another thread, but rether than hijack it I decided better to start this one.

Just before we moved to France a very good friend was kind enough to give me a set of box wood pinch chucks. They are about 100 years old and they are a lovely thing to use, handle and see. Brass ferrules and pinch rings.

Because of the age the mount threads were very odd so the steel bit is a lot newer and is an adaptor I had made. I haven't used them very much. The threads are cut directly into the box wood.

Has anyone else seen any like these?

I have seen 'all wood' versions made to suit specific projects, but never a set of collets like that.
I guess the now readily available 4 jaw scroll chucks have made the need for them less urgent, good solution for production turning of specific items though when they can be made to exactly the required dimensions.
