I'd like to teach myself woodworking, just small things, like boxes etc to start with.
Can anyone recommend any books/DVD's to get me going?

Tony

Hey Tony

Andrew Crawfords The book of boxes is great, taunton complete guide to box making too.

David Charlesworths books are great too.

Good luck

No worries Tony

Actually Rob Cosmans DVDs are really good too.

I started out with exactly the same ideas of making small things.

There are lots of other books that seem to be standard reads for woodworkers.

Ernest Joyce - Encyclopedia of furniture making.

Alan Peters - a professional approach (I think that has just been re-released)

have a search on the forum for "books" as well, been some good threads on here in the past.

I found the Hamlyn book of woodworking quite helpful, gets you started and introduces you to more complex stuff as you gain skill and confidence
