Bookcases, TV cabinet and fireplaces

There seems to be a big demand for this kind of work at the moment, particularly in painted finishes.

I always opt for MR MDF; any particular reason why you used birch ply?

Oh, and why do the bookshelves stop short of the ceiling? Please don't tell me that that's how far an 8' sheet reached! :lol:

Birch ply was the client's wish and the bookcases stop where they do because there are uplighters in there, wired independently to add a night time ambient glow.

Nice work Tim, how many coats and what sort of paint did you use?

Sorry - missed this before.

The paint was Crown Trade Acrylic Eggshell but tinted to a Dulux colour 'Roman White' using Crown's excellent magic eye system, because I prefer Crown paints and I have an account with them :wink:


Two coats of primer and two coats of Eggshell.
