A query for all the kitchen fitters out there.

I installed these runners in my existing cabinets with my own drawer boxes with lay on fronts. I followed the installation instructions rep amount of setback from the cabinet face to the letter. These worked perfectly when first installed but after a few months one or two of them don’t quite close all the way, short by about 2 to 4 mm. The issue is not consistent, ie the drawer might close as it should for a week and then not do so the next time it’s used.

I thought these runners were supposed to be maintenance free but is there a need for an occasional drop of oil or silicone spray? I don’t want to apply anything which might gum up the operation even more.
 
Hello

All of our runners are maintenance free and there should be no necessity to return to the runners post installation. Perhaps more importantly all of our runners come with a lifetime warranty. We would like to solve this situation for you but we will need further information.

What runners are you currently using from our product range?
Are the runners free of debris from installation?
Is there any apparent leakage from the soft close pistons?

I don't want to hijack the thread, but it's too good an opportunity to get a message to the Blum organisation. I'm an occasional user of Blum drawer runners, once or twice a year, and that's not frequent enough to completely memorise all the fitting details. Consequently every time I buy Blum runners I groan inwardly because I know I'm going to have to wade through masses of online information in order to gather the fitting information. Why can't Blum arrange it so that everything you need to fit, say, Tandem drawer runners is in one clear, concise English language document supported by a helpful YouTube video and a convenient source for any special tools that are needed (I'm thinking of things like the ultra long 2.5mm (?) drill bit needed for the drawer front retaining plate pilot hole)?

Thanks Blum for posting this. I have since relooked at my installation and there is a very slight discrepancy in how I have located my drawer fronts. I have sorted this and all is now ok. I did mail your technical dept with this info some weeks back after I had contacted them initially.

But I also agree with Custard re the impenetrability of your technical info.

Full marks Blum for replying, but here's a specific question.

You sell a template for the drawer locking devices (T65.1000.02), you recommend that it's used with a special drill which you describe as a "2.5mm bit with extension chuck". Despite a lot of searching I've never been able to find this anywhere in your catalogues.
 
Custard - I use a 2.5mm hex shank bit and a hex chuck extension. No need for anything more proprietary.

Sorry for the delay in our reply, we only check the forums periodically. To answer your question there are a number of standard alternatives that can be used but the tool set is only needed if drilling at an angle. As per the solution presented in the other users comments.
However our solution would be found in our catalogue page number 755 with product code T65.9000 which is a tool set for this purpose. These are available through our distribution chain.
