A couple of things I made for 'er indoors, Blanket box from Ash with walnut panels and a Tulip wood panel in the lid. Tall cupboard from Tulip wood frame with oak faced MDF for the panels, the tulip wood is being sold as window boards by a local builders merchant, a bit soft but nice smooth grain and some nice colouring, a waste to be used as window boards in my opinion.

What lovely contrasting timbers. In the first photo the top looks like it has a darker inlay around the inset panel, or is that just a trick of the light?

What's the finish? It hasn't yellowed the ash.

The inlay is Walnut, planed it down with the planer but used a piece of thin mdf strip to carry it through the planer, finish is danish oil only, if you look at photo 2 you can just see a slight difference in colour from the outside to the inside, then used some Lemon oil (from Axminster) for the inside, that was a few months ago and the smell still lingers, it leaves a really nice fresh fragrance on your bedding. There is a clear Teak Oil which would not discolour your timber, I have seen it at Craft-Supplies.co.uk

have to say I really like the walnut dowels, as well as the overall look of both pieces.
