No, that was Fiddes poly varnish. The Liberon is mostly oil (and thinners) with a small about resin, which adds a bit more protection/build compared to a typical Danish oil.

Ah ok. Do you use renaissance wax after using that Liberon oil?

Thanks for your patience answering my questions! Hugely appreciated.

Just a thought, I like to dye the wood, wonder if wiping this stuff on would re-activate the dye and cause smudges etc.

Nice work Simo. It beats me how you can do it for £1200 including all hardware and case. I used to make guitars, and still occasionally make specials for people, but I could not get close to that price if I was doing it for a living. Well done indeed.

Yeah was thinking the same thing! Took me a year to build mine!

How long did it take you to build each one?

It's a competitive market, especially as a relativity unknown builder.. it's certainly more of a calling than a career  I only build a handful of instruments per year, and although building them from scratch takes up a large amount of my time, it only adds up to a small amount of my earnings, most income comes from other sources.

I've switched to using Howard 'Feed-n-Wax', which is an orange oil and wax blend. You can apply it with a cloth, or it works great as a lubricant for wire wool, for a smooth satin finish.. awesome stuff (smells great too).

I'm not the best person to ask about dyes or stains, as I rarely use them.. but yes, with any wipe-on finish you'll get some lifting of the dye. With anything like that I'd be inclined to test on scrap first, as the results will vary depending on your dye, chosen finish and technique, etc.

That is a stunning looking bass, well done, and it does seem like incredibly good value too.

Thanks fella, I'll do some shopping and experiment with that stuff.
