If you have any more pictures, or words about how you found and worked that stunning piece of wood, please tell us more.

I had a good look at your site, some beautiful work. I really enjoyed your blog and seeing how it was made. Do you make basses full time?
I'm only a hobbyist luthier (only built one so far) but your work has inspired me to make more!

My guitar was done using waterborne lacquer and with all the wet sanding (and occasional burn through to bare wood ) it took bloody weeks! I watch a lot of youtube vids about finishing but lot of the products they use are American and not availbable here.
I'm keen to find a better way of doing it!

I looked through your WIP but I couldn't see a reference as to how you filled the voids in the burr, I'd be interested to know the method you followed? Whatever it was it seems to have been very successful! The Barnsley Workshops and a number of other makers are increasingly designing furniture where they work cabinet panels and other components from solid burrs.
Simo":3pyktw1u said:Yep.. been there, done that  I used Liberon Finishing Oil, which is basically 'Danish oil' with a bit more resin content.
To finish the body I'm using a polyurethane based varnish, which I thin down about 50%, and apply with a cloth.
