Thought I'd bump this thread up again as I received a e-mail from Woodworking magazine today. The mag is very different from most in three ways: First it carries NO advertising. Second it is only available by order from their website. Third it only comes out once in a blue moon.
I find the content among the best of any mags, but reading between the lines it would seem that they are under threat at the moment. So my plea to all members is to go to the site and order some issues today - it might be your last chance, or it just might help to keep them afloat.
I've been plugging Woodworking on and off for a while (maybe not enough) - imo it's the closest anyone's got to a genuinely fresh approach to a woodworking magazine and doesn't treat the reader like a moron. If only they'd offer a sub it'd make it so much easier, but signing up to the email newsletter will let you know when it's out (and doesn't bombard you with endless other things the rest of the time.) Heck, with the dollar/pound situation at the mo' now's the time to take a peek...
The interesting thing is that they're planning a 'book' of the first 8 issues, which would be a great way to catch up. I know I'm going to order it, in spite of having to CD of issues 1-7, but then I much prefer paper to screen.
