My Bosch 500 has given up the ghost! It served my purposes well and I got really good use from it. I am looking to replace it and would appreciate some help to guide me as what to buy!

Many thanks in advance.

Kevin

+2 for Katsu, cheap does the job for us normal low users, think if I used it every day as a work item would of spent more but happy with mine :D

Used Elu. May cost you a little more but you will never want or need to upgrade it

The little Katsu is a great router.

If you do go for the plunge base get it from Amazon, £28.99, and not from Aim Tools themselves who sell it on Amazon but charge more for it on their own site.

I've have a makita RT0700 and 2 of the Katsu trimmers, I can't see too much difference between them other than the price, I keep them permanently set up with different bits in 1 for rounding over 1 for chamfering &1 for template trimming.
They're fine for light weight jobs, I ve a trend T4 which is a bit heavier but still only 850w,
It really depends what you want to do with it, ive a couple of 1/2 routers for heavy duty work, it's horses for courses

I just got a second Bosch off eBay. Scored a POF 600 (the varispeed one), almost unused, and now the POF 500A is the emergency, emergency spare.

I have never managed to stop the plunge jamming though. It's infuriating. Did you ever find a solution? All three of the bases I have do it, so it's evidently a design thing. My T11 is near perfect in that regard (but far too big for a lot of things).

Thank you for the replies! I took the "plunge" (see what I did there??!!) and ordered the kit, including the plunge and tilt bases from AIM. Seems a good deal at £75 delivered.
