Have been getting ready for first show of the year and have been cutting stock and got to wondering what other people find their best sellers to be.

I cut a lot of free standing Jigsaws but find that over the past few years these 3 Angels have been my best sellers .Not varnished just a bit of beeswax

What are yours?

John

those are lovely, can see why they sell, quite a lot of work in them, what do you charge?
I haven't really done any craft fairs yet, but have one at end of month. I have a friend who has taken some of my stuff with her, and she has sold a few little boxes and always little kitty or bunny 'candy dishes' Sheila Landry patterns which are easy to cut and cute, for £5.
Have made some tealight holders and keyracks, a couple of names, some stand up animal jigsaws, an aeroplane (steve good pattern). also got some trinket boxes and a few portraits (cos I was making them anyway, and stack cut them  )
Would be interesting to hear what other folk make and how they sell, really bit nervous about this fair as it will be the first one I have prepared for - what if nobody likes anything

They must take ages to cut and finish John and I'm assuming would sell for a fairly high price? Are you taking lots with you? The mass-produced-stack-cut stuff will probably give a better return?

I'm determined to 'do a craft show' in the future but am concerned at selling out by 10:30 because I haven't made enough

Hi

They take about an hour to make, the little girl angel and the one with the "feathered" wings are made out of different pieces of wood so took longer to make and shape than the other one which was one piece of Fir just cut and shaped about 30 mins.

I was given some very thin and dense mdf some time ago so have made about 40 templates of all sorts jigsaws, eagles penguins etc so I don't need to use patterns, adhesives etc just masking and clear tape

The Angels go for £12 and the most expensive piece I do is a Timber wolf and an Arctic wolf try and get £20 . Years ago did a Lighthouse scene with some very nice hardwoods tried to get £45 with no luck so gave it to Granddaughter .

I only do about 12 shows a year cos getting a bit long in the tooth and easily knackered, but I'm sure you will enjoy doing them and meeting some nice people so have a go

And take plenty of change--- another thing I like doing is making stuff to give away - pendants, cheese cutters and the nail trick

Thanks for the additional information John, very useful. I thought the angle would have taken ages but you seem to have gotten that down to a good time.

Very Nice John.

Can’t give any personal comment/advice on best sellers, as I don’t directly sell anything, all by work is passed to the Cats Protection shop, and Cornwall (MS) therapy centre, but from feedback, the simpler items seem to sell the quickest. :?

Take care.

Chris R.
