As you've probably noticed from my post count im a newbie to the forums, but find it a great place for advice more so than general online reviews.
Basically im looking for a lathe because id like to have a go at bowl turning, I havent done anything turning-wise since college 5 years ago, now i have some space and id like to fill it with a lathe, So Id like to stick to £400 max ideally, I know theres a list of members lathes which ive had a look at

So Ive looked at Sheppach dms 900/1100 & record Cl1, they "seem" to be the best that fall within budget but what are they like in reality?

Sorry for the long post any helps appreciated.

Is the £400 budget just for the lathe alone or for all the other accessories that will be needed, such as gouges, chuck, abrasives, finishes, etc.
Have you thought about second hand where you can sometimes pick up complete kits.

Hi 13eightyfour,

I may be able to help with your problem!

I have a Myford wood turning Lathe and all the associated equipment for sale as my Grandfather is unable to use it.

It would include a VERY large box of quality chisels, the lathe, stand and a motor.

Unfortunatly my grandfather is selling all of his tools as he is no longer capable of using them through illness.

I also have several other items that I was about to place on ebay.

If you were interested I am sure we could come to a very agreeable price and I may be able to deliver ;)

let me know if you are interested :)

Lee
