In a market for a good quality jigsaw, I would have budget of around ~100 pounds, would really prefer something Higher-end but Used rather than some cheap nasty useless crap which I have now.
would be used to cut up to 10cm thick material, usually 5cm thick but I want a do-it-all unit.

also what do you need to look for when buying one? have 0 experience when it comes to jigsaws.

Personally the only jigsaw I've ever actually thought was worth owning is one of the Festool Carvex models.
They appear to be the only ones that can cut deep (100mm) and not have the blade deflect causing undercutting.
I don't own one as I've got to wait until my Makita blows up or burns out, but I've tried out a couple owned by friends and they are truly outstanding.

Personally I love my li-ion Makita. Compared to the DeWalt & Milwaukee it's so lightweight and easy to maneuver. You may struggle to get a li-ion on your budget even used. They hold their price extremely well - shows how good they are!

can I have the model number you have? Have been looking at makita DJV180 which sometimes comes up for decent price.

Btw does the cheaper Festool models are any good or you should just go for the carvex range? Its a bit out of my budget specially for a jigsaw, my old one cost 10quid/new :D it was good to cut some laminate but thats about it...
However I do not want to buy cheap and buy twice so would just really pay a bit extra if its worth it.
Thanks.

Mine is the Anniversary Edition BJV180. The DJV is a newer version but the specs are the same. The only real difference is that mine doesn't support 4.0Ah or 5Ah batteries.

so D/BJV180 is decent enough since you have been using it?
seems like a really popular model at least in the used market.
was thinking about it myself before even posting this.

Yes, it's never skipped a beat. Even with 3Ah batteries it runs for an age. Using max pendulum does shorten battery life though. Sharp blades make life so much easier too.

I tried a mate's Milwaukee jigsaw and wasn't impressed. It was really heavy and the blade lock twisted the blade out of line so it wouldn't cut perfectly straight even using a fence!
