Hi I can't find any advice or opinions on bench top bandsaw
Using the Search facility.

Does anyone use one that they have bought new in the last few years.

Thanks

I've got a Metabo one on order. I was gonna buy the draper bs190 until I received an email saying it had been discontinued. I'm glad it was tbh. The Metabo looks a much better machine....I hope

I've got the Axminster 250 one and I love it. I bought it on a whim after buying a few workshop tools and got an email offer. It's the most used saw! I use it way more than my table saw because it's so convenient. Get some stuff saw blades though as it makes a big difference.

My only regret is that I didn't buy a much bigger one, but even when I do upgrade I'll still use the smaller one for more detailed work.

That's a good idea Stu,
I had a small benchtop one to start with and sold it off when I bought the Record BS400 which is a real dream. Whatever the size, you just need to get it running well and then learn what to use it for. A couple of thisgs which may help :-

THE BEST FROM A BANDSAW 'Alex Snodgrass of Carter Industries has an excellent video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGbZqWac0jU on a tune up method that works well, but that is only to tune the bandsaw and nothing else.
If you really want to get the very best use of your bandsaw on an ongoing basis, then the Steve Maskery DVD's will show you far more than that and they are a real investment that you should own. http://www.workshopessentials.com/shop/ '.

The Metabo arrived this afternoon must say I'm impressed with the quality so far. Waiting for tuffsaws to deliver a proper blade before I switch it on

@ColeyS1 Is it the BAS261? Be interested in how you find it - been thinking about the small Record but been put off by all the tales of woeful quality control/delivery damage, and Metabo hasn't been on my radar :/

Cheers, Pete

Yeah that's the one. Every other smallish one I saw was only 80mm depth of cut. This says it should cut 103mm so will be interesting to see what power it has. I'll start a new thread on it [WINKING FACE]

I bought a Record BS250 bandsaw a couple of years ago and I've been very happy with it and feel it was money very well spent. I find it very accurate once set up properly. A larger bandsaw would have been very nice but I have to get my tools out each day and put them away in the evening. A bench top model was the only option as I need to physically carry it from one place to another. I've had no problems cutting a variety of hardwoods and also thin and accurate slices of hardwood up to about 90mm in height. They don't have the most powerful motor on desktop machines, as you would expect, but as long as you use a sharp, good quality blade (I use Tuffsaws) and take the cut at a steady pace then the machine does what it's supposed to. The Record 5 year guarantee is a bonus as are the regular demonstrations and price discounts.

Does it have to be new?

If not, a model by Kity or Inca EURO 260. They are superb and very sought after so carry a premium.

As always, depends on budget and your needs.
