Spent a couple of days planing up some sawn English oak planks ready for a couple of projects - generated plenty of shavings!:

Big ones are 1.5m x 250mm. I cut them roughly to size last Autumn and waited for some nice weather.

A DVD storage unit and a TV/multimedia cabinet - should be really using veneered MDF :) but I like real wood.

You just can't best using real wood. When ever I've got something to make, I try and get the best timber available from where I work............ thats available free of course! I don't do paying for timber.....!

that is some lovely looking oak, I am really getting into working with quality stuff after the last project and am negotiating with a client over an 8 foot long 3 inch thick dining table he wants. I really want to make it, but of course oak like that does not come cheap so he is umming and ahhing about it (understandably).

Rod - if you leave them out in that bright sunlight for much longer they're not going to be staight for very long  - Rob

Rob - that was just for the photo. Also taken late afternoon when the sun was low and weak.
Now properly tucked away in the dark for a week or two.
Anyway this lovely weather won't last much longer - it is only March :D
