Beech for a Workbench Top

I lipped the individual sheets of MDF by biscuiting on soft wood, planed these flush then glued the three sheets together with a few biscuits for location.

Can I ask why you lipped them individually rather than as a pack of 3?

Two reasons. First, I reckoned that there was more guarantee of getting the finished top dead flat that way. Once the individual sheets were lipped, the lipping helped them to stay flat.

Second, three sheets of MDF are very heavy, so the more I could do before they were glued together, the less lifting I had to do - and I was doing all the work on my own (and I'm not very big ).
