This is my first attempt at a hand plane so be gentle please  i made it about 3months ago, it has a brass body, steel sole, rosewood handles, and a 5mm thick blade bedded at 50degrees.

Rk - like that =D> , similar to the one in my avatar. I 'spect you found like I did that the brass cap iron with bolt gives huge leverage at the blade edge and holds everything really tight. Is there a chipbreaker with the cutter, doesn't look like it? - Rob

no, there is no chip breaker, i thought the 5mm blade would reduce chatter and it does, altho the lack of adjuster makes it hard to finely set, mayb next time

i got it from ebay philly, got another 3, so my brain is twitching, i'm trying to get my head around a bevel up plane :D

????????????

In what way? It is brass, not iron, made from a kit, not a factory produced plane, has an infill type tote with fully wrap around handle, it has a brass lever cap with short blade, and no cap iron

Lovely plane RK. any chance of photos of it in action?

It wasn't a kit, it was a brass plane which i butchered and made an infill type out of, i'll get some pics in next couple days

Slippery Slope there, RK; off to a real flyer too. Proper job. =D>

Sheesh, Rob, you missed the obvious one - they're both smoothers. #-o

Cheers, Alf
