We did have a big debate about our BBQ. We bought it at the end of the season and it was £800 rather than £1300 and it does seem madness to spend that much money but 25 year guarantee means it will be good for at least that long and I offset the cost against the number of cheap BBQ's I'd get through. It does do a brilliant job. I often cook some of our normal evening meal on it rather than in our oven. But it is a lot of cash for a BBQ.

To me this is BBQ, a smoker that is, low and slow, many hours required, anything else is grilling:

Taken at our summer cottage.

A long slow smoker sounds great, but not really suitable for a quick spur of the moment barby on a weeknight. Got to be gas.... with lava rock!!

I'm using my smoker as a grill when I want to do that. I might get something else later, likely a charcoal grill. My dad swears by gas but I like charcoal and I can get a charcoal grill for much cheaper.

You can't harden a blade in a gas BBQ! so for me they are a non starter.
