Decided a while back to make some towel rails and loo roll holders for our bathrooms and loos - 4 didn't seem that many at first

Simple projects that give one a chance to practice dovetails, some simple turning and cutting/finishing curves. The curves were cut on the bandsaw (I never change the blade form my 3/4" one and just nibble relief cuts before the curve is cut) and finished with spokeshave, compass plane, scraper and sandpaper!

I hope these give a nice and light look with the curves and wood thickness and they are often remarked upon positively in the 2 months they have been used.

Wood is american cherry apart from the telescopic loo roll holder section which is beech

Brilliant.
I love the loo roll spring idea. Very clever, the towel rail looks very good with the curves and the idea of using the vice fence as a reference for the router is genius.

Nothing for ages then 3 at once.. like buses

Again Tony, very nice...but your'e not tapping those dainty BS chisels with that maul I hope 8-[ - Rob

Again, another excellent showing of craftsmanship! Really like the spring idea - where did you get the inspiration for that?

Thanks Olly - just something one sees around in engineering (where I've worked all my life)

I made my first around 10 years ago for a kitchen towel dispenser and kind of like them :) Used to make them form 3 pieces, but now I ma a bit better on the lathe, they are two-piece

Not as heavy as it seems - and I only tap :) The (unbelievably good) chisels seem to stand up to it OK
