Was taken by some of the work Harvey Meyer had on display and demonstrated at the recent AWGB seminar so though I’d have a go. One of those projects with attention to detail that I thought I’d never either want or be able to devote time to but I’ve actually found this very relaxing to turn and finish. This design is very close to one Harvey has done while I learn the process and things I will do different next time. Next ones will have my design on the pattern ..... looking forward to it!

You have made a great job of this Simon.

This type of work is not my cup of tea but I do appreciate the work that goes into creating it and the patience.

I know exactly what you mean and this was my view.

However, I’ve surprised myself. Partly due to going through a difficult 10 months at work that has come to a head recently, but being able to totally switch off with a glass of wine, classic FM and magnifying headband / loupe thing that narrows ones focus, has been really wonderful and consequently I’ve really enjoyed making this one.

Don’t know that I’ll be making them by the dozen any time soon but I’d definitely make another and would be keen to make sure the pattern design is original in future having largely copied this one to ‘get me going’ so to speak.

Well done Simon, have similar reservations to Derek about this type of work but certainly respect the effort and concentration needed to produce.

Glad you are finding relief from unwanted pressures by being able to absorb yourself in such.

It was the escape from life pressures that got me into spinning bits of wood in the first place, although I had been retired some 10+yrs. at the time.
