I've been meaning to buy a moisture meter for a while.

I've just got 1300kg of oak flooring to go down and have been waiting for it to acclimatise/dry etc

I mainly want a moisture meter for determining whether the oak is dry enough to lay but I'd like to use it in the future for furniture projects.

I don't turn or use green wood. But I do use a woodburner and it might be useful to check some logs now and again but mainly I'd want one for furniture...

I saw this on Amazon : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Handheld-Wood-M ... 308&sr=8-5 (Sinometer MD-812)

And there are some on Axminster : Brennenstuhl MD (http://www.axminster.co.uk/brennenstuhl ... rod839238/)
MD2G - (http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ax ... prod22683/)

I'm after a basic one I think - around about £20 to £30.... at this price I'd be looking for an indication rather than a critical measurement.

Any thoughts?
Thanks
Ed

for indication and not critical measurement I would look on ebay. You will see the same models as they are generic meters from Hong Kong. You may be able to avoid taxes by buying as the value is so low.

regards
Alan

PS Who is amazed and irritated by the fact that so much stuff is made and available by dropship from China and which is sold at very high prices here in the UK stores. Rip-off is right. I just saved £450 on sets of taps by buying from HK distributor and not from UK shops . Delivery 6 days.
