I bought some cored solder wire, I can't see the tin/ratio but I'm hoping to use it for stained glass work. I'll find a use if not as it cost me £7.50 .................................. for two kilos.

Good price... however when joining stained glass lead Came you normally just wipe the joint with a bit of tallow and use normal lead solder (non cored, 40:60 or 50:50 Sn to Pb) with a chunky iron (100w). 60:40 is normally used for finer work, e.g. foil or electronics etc. and the 40:60 where you need greater strength e.g in stained glass.

The flux in cored solder is often acidic, so any residue should be cleaned up after use.
