Turning MDF into gold in a northern town
Mailee's talk about possibly getting a commission for building a bar in a restaurant reminded me of a similar job I did a couple of years ago.

All my WIP photos are hiding on an old computer somewhere but I found this one of the finished job. I never posted it on the forum at the time 'cos I got banned!

The bar top and the table tops were made from bought-in oak kitchen worktops. The chairs and the metal table bases were sourced by the client from a contract furniture importer.

The bar itelf was made from oak veneered MDF with solid oak facings.

It looks very nice! Well done mate! Making a bar is something I want to have a go at in the future. Keep up the good work

Nice job and the "Gimson" chairs are interesting. i wonder where they came from and at what price?

The client sourced the chairs from a company in South Wales. They in turn had them sprayed up in the right colour in Italy.

So they are either Italian chairs or imported ITW from the far east by an Italian company.

He told me he paid £35.00 + VAT per chair but I find that a little difficult to believe!

It seems incredible at that price and certainly not worth making. i have heard similar tales before so it is probably true.

Probably about what Gimson charged for his :D
