hello i am looking for a bandsaw that has a cutting height of about 4in and a width of about 9 to 10in. is the record power bs250 any good or is there any other ones maybe a bit cheaper

Hi yellow_lamborghini_2406 ( on this site that is a mouth full  )

I would try looking at the sip bandsaws also as I have one and have been very happy with it for price and for use.
Try Ebay for some prices as you might be able to get the 14" for what you might be looking at spending :)
Try http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search. ... ip+bandsaw
For a start
Ps I have the 12" one :D

The problem with buying a new bandsaw is that they come boxed in parts direct from China and sometimes the screw holes dont seem to line up on both connecting parts.

Seriously, purchase only from a respectful dealer because there is an awful lot of cabbage around and you might need to return or do some engineering touch ups.

Order them both and return the bad one

I dont think there is likely to be a forum member with the experience of having owned both, so must be difficult to give a true answer to that one.

I just bought the BS300x from Record, which is the slightly larger version of the BS250. After spending some time setting it up and getting a variety of blades, it works like a dream.

I haven't bought many power tools yet (just router, bandsaw, sliding mitre saw, and thicknesser), but IMHO it is worth stretching yourself a little bit to get something you can just afford rather than something you can easily afford, because you get what you pay for.

Regards

Jonathan
