This is a question for the panel.

A friend of mine wants to put down a bamboo floor in the bathroom, personally I don't think this is a good idea.

What do you think?

It might be a problem if it were flooded and left for a long time, but even a flood as long as mopped up fairly quickly wouldn't hurt it - the stuff is impregnated anyway. The finish is harder than hell - I made a kitchen table out of my surplus and I had an absolute pig of a job sanding it off. It wouldn't even soften or lift with blowtorch.

We've had one down in our bathroom for 5 years now, last year i discovered a slight leak from the shower that must have been going on for a while and i replaced two boards without any issues.

I did leave plenty of room under the shower tray, bath and skirt for just such an occasion though.

I see plenty cracked and lifting tiles layed on wooden floors and that put me off tiles in ours.

Overall i'm impressed and as a plumber/bathroom fitter i see the damage done to floors on a daily basis.

I'd have it again.
