Hi, i have found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=017 and i am wondering what would be the recommended price to go up to. Also does anyone know whether the axminster black and yellow table is identical to the newer black and white table saw. Does anyone know what i should ask the seller with regards to the condition of the saw has i cannot get down to have a look but if i purchase the saw the seller is prepared to deliver it from southampton to wednesbury for £50 which i think is reasonable considering axminster want £45. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers Neil

The old black and yellow one was the Perform model. It disappeared from their website for a couple of weeks and then reappeared in Axminsters White Range colours. I believe they are exactly the same. Considering it is the "old" model and is 18 months old, I wouldn't want to go higher than £300.

Just been reading through the Ebay listing.

This saw is in excellent condition, and has only been used twice.
It's about one and half years old.
Reluctant sale due to a career change (used to be a cabinet maker but, now plastering for a living)

I find it strange that a professional cabinet maker only used his table saw twice in 18 months. I would ask him for some pictures. I always find it a bit suspicious when people don't have photos of the actual item.

Neil, as Simon says ask the seller for some photos of the saw, and I would not pay anymore then £300 either.

There are some pictures of the yellow and black perform model on the forum somewhere. I seem to remember that they may have been in one of Tonys posts, or at least in a post around the same time he bought his Axminster (taken by someone at one of their shows).

Like Simon, I think it is a bit suspicious that a cabinetmaker has only used it twice in 18 months.

Cheers

Here's the thread. Pics taken by DaveL.

Hi thanks for all the replys £300 is what i was thinking of going upto. Are there any parts that likely to be worn and if so is replacing them easy enough and can you still get the replacement parts for it from axminster.

Cheers Neil

I have the SIP, which is basically the same saw. I have had it for 2 years now and I have not come accross any issues with wear and tear. I would just check that the rise and fall/tilt wheels work smoothly and also the running of the sliding table. There's not much else that can go wrong with it really, other than rust. It may be out of alignment, but that is nothing an hour or two can't solve.

As is it the same saw as the white one Axminster currently sell, I would have thought you could get parts very easily.

I'm not absolutely sure that the old Perform one (yellow) is identical to the white one.

Get pictures from him first and many on here can tell you if it is or is not

Ta Slim

From those Pictures, the saw looks identical to my White one (although I sold the sliding table right the way and cannot say 100% that it's the same as mine was unused)

It does look the same Tony

Thanks for posting a link to those pictures, I thought I had posted some but could not remember under what heading.

thanks for all of the comments guys. I will keep an eye on the bidding and see how high it goes

Axminster appear to have switched several of items from their yellow Perform range in to the White brand of their own (including the CCNPT planer-thicknesser now).

Generally, the White stuff is either Light Trade or Trade-rated - this doesn't necessarily affect the design or build quality over its predecessor, but the motor will be of a higher rating.

ie. The Perform CCNPT planer-thicknesser was rated as a Hobby machine. It's replacement, the AWEPT106, is now Trade-rated at the same price.

Now, I may have been an unlucky one, but after about two years of occasional use, the motor on my Perform P-T burnt out. I had it looked at professionally and they told me it was a cheap motor that hadn't been insulated properly in the first place.

So, I go for nothing less than a Light Trade rating nowadays.

Might be worth considering that. :)

hi Neil
I have the yellow saw bought two years ago.I was in axminsters last week and the white one is the same.when I got it they were described as Trade. I have been very happy with it.Hope this helps.
