Axminster New Shop opening tomorrow

Hi

Anyone visiting the new Axminster shop in High Wycombe on their grand opening tomorrow. I think it would be rude to ignore it as I seem to be "working from home" tomorrow.

Of course I will not be buying anything, just having a browse

According to their website the grand opening is NEXT month - 20/21 March.

I just saw Friday 20th and did not look at the month. Anyway it says the store is already open so will take a look around anyway.

I popped in the otherday on the way back home after an expensive trip to Milton Keynes...... :tool:

Have to say it wasn't very impressive... wasn't a huge amount on show so i left with out a large bill! (maybe if i hadn't been to the main showroom in Devon i would have found it more exciting)

Well I did pay a visit and actually was quite impressed. Maybe I am easily pleased having not visited the Devon store but despite a "relatively" small offering on display there was still a good selection to drool over. A cabinet of Lie Neilsen and Veritas planes is placed, rather like the sweet display in a petrol station, by the checkout to tempt the weak willed.

Unfortunately budget does not allow such indulgences right now but a nice collection of diamond stones and a blade height gauge were welcome additions to the workshop. They also have a few bigger machines out on display and it was good to see the actual size of things like extractors and the Tormeks which I have been debating for a long time.

All in all a great addition to my local stores and I will be a regular visitor I think especially for the one off that do not warrant a delivery charge.
