At the tailstock end of the M330 lathe bed there are two threaded holes.

Are they there to extend the lathe bed, cant see one in the catalogue, does anyone know?

HI

Yes that is what they are for but the extension no longer appears on Axminsters website or in their catalogue. It would be worth calling them if you want one to see if they still have any.

Axminster say they never had or did the extension but that is what it is there for.
The perform wont fit they say.

So perhaps the Jet model might do the trick?

You can get an extension for the Jet mini or for the new range of AWSVL's or whatever they are called. Would it be worth your popping the lathe in the boot and nipping down to Axminster as yopu aren't that far away are you?

Yes I think with some adaption and engineering an extension should be possible even if it is a partition block between the two sections.

Axminster were not very helpful and would not give any encouragement to the situation.

But I suppose they would, wouldn't they :)

HI

I recieved my new AWVSL today and have just been out and measured it.

The end of it where the extension fits looks like this.

The measurements are

From the bench to the top of the bed 188mm

The width of the bed is 107mm

The width of the gap in the middle of the bed is 32mm

From the bench to the centre of the bolt holes is 153mm

The distance between the hole centres is 81mm

The distance from the top of the bed to the shelf is 71mm

As I took the measurements they are fairly accurate but could be a couple of millimeters out, I really must go to specsavers.

Hope this helps.

Hi. You should have bought the M600, it has the longer bed. I've had one for a few years and prefer it to the smaller bed lathes.

Many thanks jpt, its a bit early for me to go into the shed, the wife will start to feel neglected if I do :) ) but those measurements will be very useful.
I will let you know after coffee time.
