Anyone had good service from Rutlands?

I bought a multi-max depth gauge and when I opened it up the calibrations were completely off center. After a couple of emails they've essentially given me the finger.

At the same time I bought a heap of stuff from Axminster and Craig White was most helpful, even sorted out the VAT refund form for me.

What's remote about Aberystwyth? Lovely place, except for the ruddy shingle beach. The stuff gets in your shoes and between your toes! And last time I was there, I recall the seaweed got pretty thick...

Nothing John! .............. Aberystwyth is in Aberystwyth and plenty going on there, too ............

You are right about the shingle, but the biggest pain at the moment are the discarded BBQ trays on the beach which is otherwise quite tidy.

However, I'm in the remote hills up yonder. It gets a bit wild up here when the wind blows, but a lovely spot and a great place to live, nonetheless.
Few have ever heard of where I live - even less can pronounce it - so I take the easy way out and mention the proximity to our nearest Metropolis, hence Aberystwyth. Even the post office gave us a Shrewsbury code.

On the subject of Rutland's, they're not as prompt as Axy, but never rubbed me up the wrong way. Not my first choice and I've only used them a couple of times when I bought a couple of their Chinese wooden planes. They are not a patch on Axy when it comes to service and product knowledge in my opinion.

Even so, I'm delighted with the Chinese woodies and said so in the past.
