Just thought i would bring to your notice the good service provided by Axminster tools.

Back in September of last year I bought several of their own brand 18V Li - on batteries for my drill. I went to use one the other day and found that it had died. I phoned axi this morning, telling them my problem. They told me they no longer sell the particular batteries but as the battery was purchased within 12 months they refunded me in full.

Thanks Axminster, top service.

I guess it depends who you speak to. I had a mitre saw stand delivered to me that wasn't the one advertised on their website, when I phoned up to enquire about getting the right one, I was spoken to like I was an ***** who didn't know how to order things online. Time of the month methinks.

I have nothing but sterling service from them. One time I bought some small drill bits a hinge center finder for as part of a purchase but somehow managed to leave one on the counter as I left. When i got home I phoned them to see if they could find them. I had 3 drill bits in the post the day after next.

I always think its worthy of noting good service as too many merchants couldn't care less once they have the money off you.

I have had an Axy 18v li-ion pack die for no good reason, charged it up, (only the third time) put it in the case and dead as a DoDo when swapped out, when I tried to re-charge it charger would not attempt to charge, flagging it as defective with flashing lights.

Trouble is with the Elaborate electronics in the pack it seems, all cells were at different voltage levels from near flat to almost full voltage, I charged cells individually via alternate source and charger will now accept pack but pack reports only 80% power charge state.

Did mange to get a few extra packs whilst they were being sold off cheap, just have fingers crossed they don't all go belly up the same way, trying to ensure they don't get down much below 20% power before changing out now.

Whilst it's nice you got your money back, it's not really such wonderful service as it was still in warranty, so they had no choice either to replace it or refund you.
All the thread does is reinforce my view that the quality of Axminster own brand goods is diminishing, as this battery problem must now be a known fault to them, as I have had my money returned for a battery that died within a month of purchase as did another forum member & a friend of mine. So with the other 2 mentioned in this thread it's not looking good for other owners of this battery.

I bought the Bosch batteries from Axy. Expensive I guess, but they never let me down... so far. The work-light makes a great PC desk lamp! :D
