It could be worth a trip for a 10%. reduction depending on what it is you are buying of course. Having 10% off a couple of star knobs would not make it worth while (obviously) but if it were a £2K machine included in the discount then defo worth a look in.
Perhaps they are saving all of their stock for the "Big Birthday Bash" where they expect a buying frenzy from us the customers.
It also seems to me that the store (Nuneaton) is too big for the amount of stock they hold/offer, even if the shelves were fully loaded. Not really an issue as having space to wander around is nice but surely it would make business sense to have more lines or other brands available?? I'm a bit of a gadget man when it comes to tools so any little shiny sparkly thing that catches my eye would probably end up in my shopping basket while surfing the shelves. Things perhaps that I would not have otherwise bought. Perhaps they should have a chat with the supermarkets and get all the "sweeties" near the check out to tempt us into buying more kit.
I have visited the US on several ocassions and always look out the towns with Rockler and Woodcraft in them, they seem to be about the closest thing to Axminster but the difference being they have so much kit for woodworkers it's untrue. Everthing from, pencils to jigs to machines to timbers and veneers to clothing to books, plans and even a fully loaded workshop where you can undertake various activity under supervision . A one shop stop as it were. Another difference I noted was the staff albeit helpful at Axi don't appear to be woodworkers, just checkout staff?? In the Rockler stores for example the store staff are all enthusiastic woodworkers and happy to chat for ever about woodworking and tools. I know Axi isn't all about WWing but having tools properly set up and tuned would allow the customer to have a hands on experience rather than having parts fall off machines or slop around because they were not properly set up for use. Just a thought.
