Look, I really don't like knocking Axminster, cos generaly I think they do an excellent job,

BUT

why, oh why, do they put on special offers that they cannot service? I rather rashly sold my trusty DW RAS yesterday with a view to replacing it with a smaller, and more portable, SCMS. So I ordered the Bosch, which they have on a very attractive deal, only to find out this morning that they are not expecting any stock for a least "a couple of weeks".

As it happens I can borrow my neighbour's while he is away on hols, but it's still very irritating.

Cheers,
Victor.

Nope, you made it. welcome on board from a sunny GL6.

here Steve look at something I saw in my local hardware store only € 220 ex VAT
500mm reach - just right for those DEEP /WIDE panals  and a 250mm saw blade too

That looks like a good deal, if the quality is good.
My neighbour has the SIP, and, provided that you chuck away the crap blade that comes with it and put a decent Freud one on, is remarkably good, considering the price (I think it was on offer at £99 - maybe 99+VAT).
There is no provision for restricting depth of cut, though, but I gather that SIP are addressing that. Maybe they already have.

The DW is good too, esp as it doesn't stick out too far at the back, but the price is hefty. Even this Bosch is more than I sold my RAS for, so it's costing me money. Not a huge amount though, so I don't need to grovel to SWMBO.

Just so long as folks keep buying GW, I still have a workshop.
:)

Cheers
Steve

I am thinking of getting in touch with the makers, to "borrow" one for a review for UK workshop  who knows - nowt ventured nowt gained !
