For sale a Arundel K450 woodturning lathe in very near new and perfect working condition serviced by myself Arundel lathes were a traditional old English engineering company that over engineered their the product for outstanding reliability made from cast iron headstock and tailstock which are MT1 spindle size is 20mm x 2.5mm pitch and with solid steel bedways th lathe is able to turn spindles up to 32 inches long and able to turn bowl’s upto 9 inches over the bedways and 18 inches using the outboard bowl turning attachment that comes with it it also comes with a 4 inch and 3 inch face plate the latter is fitted with a worm screw plus a spindle spanner and two quality chisels the two bar bedways system was later adopted by the record tool company of Sheffield for the very successful coronet lathes and the original designer and manufacturer went on to work for record tools as a consultant. In my opinion it’s the perfect lathe for starting a fantastic new hobby or business.

Hi Mick, I'm happy to work day and time around you. I'd prefer late morning or early afternoon on Saturday, but it's entirely up to you.

I have had a K450 for many years and bought it direct from Arundel. But I wasn’t aware of an outboard turning attachment for it. I’ve just looked at mine and can’t see how the head could be rotated by 90 degrees as the motor would foul the rails . Could you tell me how it works and what it looks like please .
To get over it , I built the bench for it with a cut out so the head overhangs the cutout. I can turn big diameters, but no tail support in that position.

You too Mick, I've saved the relevant message re address.

Hi there is a outboard tool rest with banjo that bolts to the bench on the right hand side when you move the headstock to the right hand side

Thanks - I have that and use it. My cutout just makes the maximum diameter bigger ! I had thought outboard turning meant pointing the headstock at right angles and was a little puzzled.

No problem that’s a great idea for increasing the diameter I will mention it to the buyer on Saturday when he collects it
