Artist brush holder...Prove the concept

Hi all,
Staying on a 'Artist theme', my sister just showed me a picture from the net.
Got me thinking.. :?:
I only had soft wood to play with.
Proving the concept is my favourite saying just now lol.
So here goes, (worts and all lol (hammer) )

I knew the grain would be a problem :twisted:

Trying 12mm dowel.

I could sanded and sand it till the cows come home...but maybe with the right wood proven it could work.

Sorry about the rubbish brushes lol.

Hi all,
been messing with a more brush holder.
this one has 22mm holes.
Only prob the 12mm dowel bit is too big to fit onto the pillar drill press
So any angle difference was made with ME and the battery drill... :wink:

They look ok mate. Dont be so hard on yourself!
Are you clamping the two flat sections and drilling them together? That will definitely help. If you have a combination square or even better a couple of engineers squares (for ease) you can put one on either axis, front and side of your drill bit. Will help you keep your drill bit at 90 degrees. If not a couple of bits of offcut will do. Use the shop cut surfaces: ie the side and bottom of a 2x4 etc. Not a self cut end.
If you're drilling near an edge or corner like here even drawing the line down the edge of the piece can help.
No expert by any means just trying to help.

(edit... was looking on the phone yesterday and didn't realise the holes for the posts were only partially drilled on one (the wonkier one?) so maybe that's it.
Spent three hours yesterday trying to deal with compound errors myself. :evil:

I ordered small 12mm wood drill bits for the pillar drill.
Should get me near perfect holes :lol:
I'm enjoying myself no end.
Ordering a jointer/planer in the mo...….held on for so long!
research etc, theres a time to find out if its worth it lol.

Well eventually got a trim router after ordering a 110v one
Teach me to do online shopping and not scrutinise.

needs sanding, I had to lower the bit.

Test piece Roman Ogee...ok..but ill stick with round over bit for now.

Our lass reckons if I router the whole house shes going to leave me...…. :wink: :wink: :wink:

TBH was a bit scared of the thing lol.

They look really useful, nice job. On the mouldings, I always find them easier on a table.

Aye the Xmas period and then the winter has mashed me in
But...………...like I always do bounce back! :lol:
I put a few projects on YouTube, nowt exiting as im not a guru as you know with tech stuff.
I'm putting plans projects in a mo.
