I really ought to step up to a CSMS.
Can anyone give me some info on the Festool KAPEX KS 88 please?

The only place I could use it is just inside the garage door. (With the door on my left). There is a 6" recess to each side of the door, so needing to have long planks projecting through the open door, I can't mount the saw back against the wall.

So I need to know the machine's 'footprint', to know if I really have space across my shop.

Obliged

John :)

Hi
I brought one of these a while ago. I will check out the size for you and post it up later. A great saw by the way, i have not regretted buying it.

Hi

I ran the tape over the saw and below are the dimensions for you. If you need others just say.

Width 62cm, front to back 72cm, back when to fence line when pushed back to the wall is 36cm.

Hope that helps. I may know of one going up for sale, someone getting out of the trade and he has only had it for a few months and it has hardly been used. He may be keeping it, not sure, but i can ask if you wish.

The saw can be decreased in depth by removing the the plastic piece from the back its only needed for rapping the cable round for carrying purposes but if you have it in a work shop you can easily unscrew it seen as you will never rap the cable up. Thought might help

No I didnt mean the £54 pounds I mean your out by £200-£300 pounds! lol

Your way way way out Axminister to expensive! it should only be £1300 or £1400 pounds.

That's what I paid for Festool Kapex KS120EB-SET and I wouldnt recommend it to any one is absolutely rubbish.

Just buy the Festool Kapex KS120EB for £1010 including brilliant mitre saw but the SET is rubbish its takes ages to set up so rubbish for site use but for workshop it might be okay but it limits what the Kapex KS120EB can do.

If you want the bench for it go for the UG-kapex stand I have both and this stand is a much improved stand it still has its faults but atleast is usable and more site friendly.
http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... =1&jump=48

For the UG stand and Kapex 120 you can get for £1400 including not like axministers £1,554.53
http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Fest ... 824908.htm

So if I had gone with Axminister I would of paid

£1,646incl for the Kapex 120 EB-SET
£530incl for the UG kapex stand Left Right
Total= £2176 Good job I didnt go their

I paid

£1400incl(just under if I can remember right)for the Kapex 120 EB-SET
£365incl for the UG kapex stand Left Right (The shop I buy from normally sells it for £390incl) Gave me a deal because I bought a few other things

Total : £1765 including 120 EB-SET and UG-Kapex stand so I got the Ug-Kapex stand for £100!! saving £400 pounds compared to axminister price! Some on is charging a bit to much money

Like a said your price is not just out by £45 pounds is out by a mile you need to shop around a bit. All prices are including just like Axminister and free shipping.

So you could buy one and still go blackpool!

Check the Prices at RexCrystals if you dont believe me I buy all my festool tools there brilliant service next day delivery. I still use axminister a lot thought just sometimes they can be expensive

Cheers

Hi JM,

What I was trying to say was, the price I saw was £1,700.
On re checking the price was advertised as £1,646.

So there is a difference between those two prices of £54.00

That was the Axminster price I saw. As far as I know it was for the saw!
So I was saying I was a fibber for the sake of the odd £54.00

But I think the saws are out of my league if the £700 odd model isn't a very good one. I can't see me paying much more than that for light home use.

Yo John

The one on Axminister which you have seen for £1646 is the Full Kit which Includes the chop saw and the Table and left and right arm extensions which in my opinion and many other is rubbish your better of buying the new setup which is the portable bench or just buy the Kapex on its own for about £800 including and buy a Dewalt or some other stand for it.

I know you was just sayin you was fibbing about the the £54 pounds im not disputing that.

Just I was saying it was more than what I paid for the full kit but I have spoken to the guy I buy from and he says it has gone up in price because of VAT and the Euro but he is still 50 quid cheaper than axminister.

Festool I very good stuff and if a tool is faulty or you have a problem they are very good at sorting it out for you quickly.

Cheers JMB

Can't do any better than the Festool they say.

Rubbisch

Also have a look at the new Bosch one

I take it your a MAfel fan!! The Trying to be competitor for Festool. Mafel stuff does look really good but also ex-actually the same as festool. But the only thing what puts me off with Mafel is that they arnt as widely available as Festool so the service isnt as good

This is not the Minden, oh sorry TTS Tooltechnic System GB Limited , I know. Great tools, In my experience, UK central* service hovers somewhere between indifferent and actively rude and lousy.

Great tools and thankfully they do not go wrong very often.

(*as opposed to dealer service, of which I am sure they vary but mine is fine)

Hi JM,

Well at that price for the set, I might retire my Coronet Lathe-Combo machine and stick the lathe at the back of the shop, where it's warm. (Turning isn't the most physical of jobs!) That would make room for a table saw. I have a Triton at the moment, that I use mainly as a cross-cut saw. The limitations are that compound cuts are a bit 'hit and miss'!

Thanks anyway JM. Obliged for the info

John :)

If you are tempted by Festool (it's hard not to be), have a look at the CS50 before reaching a decision, it would give you a table saw as well as an (upside down) compound mitre saw.

I have the 70, which is crazy money now, but very good.
