Having just found my old Wickes electric planer after having (accidentally) left it in the rain for a few weeks and it looks a bit dubious but having given it a shake and even the plug was waterlogged - its now living in the airing cupboard for a while before I try it - I might need to buy a replacement/slight upgrade.
The above Makita about £80 looks as if it will do what I need i.e. occasionally and simply reducing well oversized wood quickly for a hand plane finish when needed. My current one has just been used to take some 1/2" or so off some 4" square fence posts - so not necessarily for quality work.
I know you can buy cheaper but I thought the Makita brand might have some longevity, anyone have one they recommend or views don't want to spend any or much more than £80
thanks
