Don't forget you will need to dry the wood before use, down to about 10% moisture max.

Which for small things like pen blanks can be done in a microwave.
A spare one. Not the one in the kitchen. put on defrost for 5 minutes then allow to cool. weigh. repeat. until it doesnt get any lighter. do not leave unattended as wood may catch fire. Unlikely but dont say I didnt warn you.
